The Biology Department at Pomona College is seeking applications for a two-year Visiting Assistant Professor position in Animal Physiology beginning fall 2020. The successful candidate will teach an upper-level Animal Physiology course with lab in the fall semester, an Introductory Cell Biology course with lab in the spring semester, and another course to be determined. The department supports visiting faculty members’ pursuit of independent research, particularly in collaboration with undergraduate students, if so desired. Some funds and ample space for conducting research with students will be provided. Post-doctoral and prior teaching experience is preferred.
Pomona College and the Biology Department support equal access to higher education. Fifty-two percent of our current cohort of first-year students (class of 2023) self-identify as domestic students of color, 11% international and 19% are first generation college students. The successful candidate will have the ability to teach and mentor exceptional students of diverse backgrounds—utilizing pedagogical practices that are rigorous, inclusive, and which promote academic equity.
