Date:

Thursday, April 16, 2020, 4:00pm to 5:30pm

Location:

Zoom - TBA

Do you want to try out real job tasks in different fields all while sitting at home?

Job simulations can help you explore bioscience PhD career paths, narrow down options, and make informed career choices. The job sims are vetted by professionals with field expertise - the projects are true-to-task.

Join Thi Nguyen, a neuroscientist, career coach, and founder of InterSECT job simulations. Be ready to work in groups on a job simulation and reflect on your relevant skills and strengths for different fields.

By the end of this session, you will be able to

  • Describe key tasks and terminology for a non-bench career field

  • Determine if you would like to further pursue a career field, before committing energy and time to an internship or additional training

  • Identify next steps to make progress on career goals

Before the session, pick out a job sim to work on. Start by reviewing the different career areas and then reading through the background section of the different job sims. (intersectjobsims.com). You will work in teams during the zoom meeting.
