FIU's STEM Transformation Institute is dedicated to advancing research and educational change on evidence-based instructional practices, utilizing FIU as a laboratory for the future of STEM, as over 80% of FIU's 54,000 students come from traditionally underrepresented groups. The Institute currently hosts 15 discipline-based education research faculty in 9 STEM departments and 25 staff/postdoctoral researchers that carry out multidisciplinary collaborative work across the Colleges of Arts, Sciences & Education and Engineering & Computing. Hallmark programs include a Learning Assistant (LA) program that impacts well over 13,000 student enrollments in 10 STEM disciplines each semester; Modeling Instruction at the high school and college levels; and numerous HHMI- and NSF-funded research projects. The STEM Transformation Institute has secured over $40 million dollars in government and private funding to carry out its mission.

The STEM Transformation Institute is seeking applications for multiple postdoctoral positions in STEM Education or Discipline-Based Education research. The primary responsibilities of STEM Transformation Institute post-doctoral fellows vary depending on the project and the individual's interests, but may include: conducting education research, developing evidence-based curricular materials, integrating teaching experience with research activities to facilitate implementation of evidence-based practices, and/or working with faculty and other stakeholders to facilitate adoption of active learning instructional practices. These experiences will prepare candidates for various career paths including academic tenure track positions.

The ideal candidates will have experience working in undergraduate science education research, and have strong quantitative or qualitative research skills and experience, such survey and concept inventory data collection and analysis, classroom observation, subject interviews and focus groups, and/or statistical knowledge. Experience with the R software package would be an added benefit.
