EPFL Life Sciences Independent Research Scholar Program (Lausanne, Switzerland)

Dear PhD students and newly minted postdocs,

The EPFL Faculty of Life Science (SV) in Lausanne is soliciting nominations/applications for our second EPFL Life Sciences Independent Research (ELISIR) Scholar.

In the spirit of analogous highly successful programs at MIT/Whitehead, Harvard, CSHL and UCSF, the ELISIR program aims to attract a stellar fresh PhD graduate to join SV straight after her/his doctoral work to head a small team of scientists for up to five years.

Any area of life sciences is interesting to us; candidates with interdisciplinary interests and computational research programs are particularly encouraged, as they will find EPFL to offer a vibrant environment for their science.

ELISIR scholars have an independent research budget, access to state-of-the-art facilities and infrastructure in addition to faculty mentorship. The position is designed to serve as an impactful springboard for scientific and career development. ELISIR scholars are not tenured and appointed for an initial period of 3 years, which can be renewed for another 2 years.

ELISIR scholars will be affiliated with one of the four Institutes and anticipated participate in the various scientific activities of the EPFL School of Life Sciences. The scholars are welcome to participate in teaching activities, akthough there is no expectation.
