Assistant Teaching Professor, Biology @ Northeastern University

About the Opportunity:

We invite applications from qualified candidates for a full-time Non-Tenure-Track (NTT) Assistant Teaching Professor faculty position within the Department of Biology, which is part of the College of Science, on the Boston campus. The position is on-site and includes opportunities for career advancement. The Department of Biology is strongly interdisciplinary and administers programs in Biology, Cell and Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, and Behavioral Neuroscience for more than 1,200 undergraduates.

 

Responsibilities:

The primary responsibilities of this position include teaching lecture sections for undergraduate genetics and genomics, upper-level genomics, and an inquiry-based computational genomics course that gives students the opportunity to perform authentic scientific research. NTT faculty with appointments in Biology are expected to teach five courses per year and provide one equivalent unit of service to the Department/College/University. This role involves coordination with other instructors, organization of computational laboratory curricula, and additional course development.

 

Qualifications:

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in the biological sciences, bioinformatics, or a closely related discipline prior to the start of the appointment and demonstrate excellence in the following: teaching, undergraduate research mentoring, communication, collaboration, and leadership. The position requires excellent communication skills and the ability to work productively both individually and in a team with other faculty, as well as interacting with students and administrative staff.
