Assistant Professor of Health Sciences @ Providence College

September 28, 2023

The Department of Health Sciences, in the brand-new School of Nursing and Health Sciences (SNHS) at Providence College (also referred to as “the College” or “PC”), seeks to fill two tenure-track faculty positions to begin in the Fall 2024 semester. We are seeking applicants with teaching, research, and/or clinical practice experience in the biomedical and/or health sciences. The successful candidates will spearhead the development and instruction of new courses in Microbiology for the Health Professions and Biology of Health and Disease for undergraduate students in the health sciences, nursing, and other majors across campus who are seeking health-related careers. Successful candidates will also participate in the department’s team-taught senior seminar and capstone in health sciences and will have the opportunity to develop and teach other courses in their area of interest and specialization. Successful candidates will maintain an active scholarly agenda and contribute professional service according to the college’s expectations of pre-tenured faculty. Candidates with an earned doctorate in health sciences, biological sciences, biomedical sciences, or a closely related field are strongly encouraged to apply.

This is an exciting and historic opportunity to join PC’s newly established School of Nursing and Health Sciences and shape an innovative, interdisciplinary curriculum for the next generation of students entering nursing and other health professions. Construction is underway on the 125,000 sq. ft state-of-the-art Ben Mondor Center for Nursing and Health Sciences that will house the School of Nursing and Health Sciences and future undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education programs. This facility will feature the latest classroom design and technologies and showcase expansive clinical simulation and research facilities, including a human performance laboratory and environmental chamber. A student career education and advising center, along with conference and meeting space, will be included as part of the inspiring resources intended for the next generation of healthcare providers, faculty, and staff. This is a unique opportunity for the successful candidate to collaborate with other PC faculty to establish a new state-of-the-art teaching-learning classroom and laboratory that integrates biological and natural sciences into the health professions.

As the student body at Providence College grows increasingly diverse, we have a strong preference for candidates who demonstrate a deep commitment to and proven ability in supporting the success of students from historically marginalized economic, social, and cultural groups.
