Postdoctoral Fellowship in Biology Education @ University of Colorado Boulder

The biology education research group led by Dr. Jenny Knight at the University of Colorado Boulder seeks an applicant for a 1-year postdoctoral research scholar. The scholar would take the lead on a project exploring the relationship between cognitive load, metacognitive knowledge and regulation, and student success in undergraduate biology students. The candidate will learn and apply quantitative and qualitative methods from social and educational psychology to analyze previously collected data on this topic and will have the opportunity to refine and develop new research questions based on the results of these analyses. The candidate will join a small internal research group and a large community of discipline-based education researchers across STEM disciplines and will find many opportunities for networking, collaboration, and developing new projects.

 

This position is full-time with a flexible start date as early as August 2019 with the possibility of renewal pending successful acquisition of additional funding. Candidate must have: 1. a Ph.D. in a life sciences discipline, cognitive neuroscience, STEM education, or a closely related field, 2. strong and demonstrated interest and/or publications in discipline-based education research, 3. high self-motivation, and 4. strong writing skills.
