The Associate Director for Graduate Student Relations & Services (MSP I) devises and leads a systemized effort to inform, collaborate with, and engage faculty, Graduate Division staff, program directors, and Student Affairs colleagues in the delivery and ownership of career and professional development for graduate students. This position involves a high level of relationship management, strategic vision and implementation of collaborative services and resources including the UCLA Career Preparation Toolkit for Graduate Students & Postdoctoral Scholars, the Master's & PhD Career Conference and Career Preparation workshops.

Working closely with the Career Center leadership team, this position assists in managing the Career Center and shares in the administration of selected Center functions in the absence of the Director. The Associate Director more specifically advises and supports the Director in the Career Center's overall strategic direction and management of services for graduate students. Activities include contributing to decisions determining the scope and nature of graduate career services, organizational planning, revenue generation, staffing, vendor selection, and associated campus and employer relations.

This leadership position cultivates new and maintains existing campus and employer relations focused on the career advancement of advanced degree candidates seeking both academic and expanded pathways. The incumbent ensures that new campus efforts in these areas are undertaken with knowledge of the existing resources (as well as the gaps in those resources) to minimize duplication and to optimize all campus-wide and discipline-specific initiatives. Employer development is conducted specifically for advanced degree candidates in collaboration with the Associate Director of Industry Relations and the Industry Relations team and includes but is not be limited to regional, national and international job/internship development and employer services. This position also serves to cultivate alumni constituents on behalf of graduate students hiring needs. The Associate Director supervises 2 full time managers and one part time manager, and oversees the graduate career consultant program. The Associate Director designs new, contributes to, and tracks Center-wide outreach efforts to and on behalf of graduate students. The Associate Director generates reports for internal and customer access, and advises UCLA campus collaborators, faculty, and students on graduate student outcomes, professional development needs and services. The Associate Director may deliver direct services to graduate students, represent the Career Center at selected meetings, conferences, and on committees, as needed or as requested by the Director; may handle special projects and other duties as assigned
