DESCRIPTION:<p>	<em><strong>This event has been canceled.</strong></em></p><p>	In this interactive workshop, Dr. Sarah Schwartz (Suffolk University) will draw from the best practices outlined in published literature to facilitate discussions and highlight suggestions for peer mentoring in practice.</p><p>	 </p><p>	The topics to be covered include</p><p>	- a general understanding of good mentoring, mentoring networks and the complementary roles of mentors and other roles (e.g. sponsors)</p><p>	- evidence of the impact of peer mentoring and the positive outcomes on mentees</p><p>	- strategies for engaging mentees</p><p>	- how to identify and acknowledge different mentee needs</p><p>	- how peer mentoring is bi-directional and benefits mentors</p><p>	 </p><p>	<strong>About the speaker:</strong></p><p>	<strong>Dr. Sarah Schwartz</strong> is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at Suffolk University.  Her scholarship and interests span adolescent risk and resilience; school- and community-based intervention and prevention programs; youth mentoring; positive youth development; transition to adulthood; and youth community organizing.  The goal of Dr. Schwartz's research is to identify, develop, and evaluate effective strategies to foster healthy developmental outcomes during adolescence and the transition to adulthood, particularly among marginalized populations.</p><p>	 </p><p>	<span style="color:#ff0000;">*Please note that this workshop is only open to HMS Master's students and HILS doctoral students.   In respecting privacy, no recordings of this workshop will be circulated.</span></p><p>	<strong><a data-url="https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1ZX5GvhSJM8AGxPtn70lHuyhdXju84XANt4ZOna8qWtk/edit" href="https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1ZX5GvhSJM8AGxPtn70lHuyhdXju84XANt4ZOna8qWtk/edit" title="">Register here.</a></strong></p><p>	 </p>
