Want to learn business terminology that is used in industry settings?
Participants will walk through how biopharma defines strategy and how biopharma is structured. Knowledge of these business basics will provide a starting point from which to learn business vocabulary and gain confidence to engage professionals and alumni in professional settings (e.g., networking and interviewing conversations).
Join Thi Nguyen, a neuroscientist, career coach, and course director for “Business Concepts for Life Scientists,” a free course hosted by iBiology. Be ready to work in groups to analyze a company as a case study and apply the business concepts you are learning.

Watch the videos for Module 1: Intro to Business Strategy, 30min regularspeed. The speakers go over how businesses define and use strategy, industry stakeholders, and the organizational context such as the structure and resources available.
STEP 3:
Review the sample companies ahead of time. Participants who browsed the websites before class reported a more positive and engaging in-class experience. Watch the video for "How to Identify Strategy From a Company’s Website."
