DESCRIPTION:<p>	<strong>[2:30 pm - 3:25 pm] Meet the Individual Development Plan (IDP)</strong></p><p>	Speaker: JIm Gould, Ph.D. (HMS/HSDM Office of Postdoctoral Fellows)</p><p>	The Individual Development Plan (IDP) is a mentoring tool that links research goals with career development and progress towards independence. It is meant to foster an ongoing and recurring discussion that involves evaluation, goal setting and feedback with input from both postdoc and faculty mentor.  The NIH encourages trainees to make Individualized Development Plans to help them prepare for academic and nonacademic careers. This interactive workshop unpacks the IDP framework while helping students to prepare a working draft of the IDP that addresses research, professional progress, and implementation.</p><p>	The primary tool for these discussions is <a data-url="https://www.cell.com/molecular-cell/pdfExtended/S1097-2765(15)00307-X" href="https://www.cell.com/molecular-cell/pdfExtended/S1097-2765(15)00307-X" title="this paper">this paper</a> from the DePace lab.</p><p>	<strong>[3:30 pm - 4:25 pm] Finding, Approaching and Assessing Rotations</strong></p><p>	G1 students (and prospective doctoral students) are encouraged to attend this panel discussion of senior graduate students covering topics such as</p><p>	- finding prospective rotation labs,</p><p>	- strategies to make the most of rotation time,</p><p>	- what to look for/assess during rotations,</p><p>	- what questions to ask before  before committing to a lab. </p>
