DESCRIPTION:<p>	<strong>GRANT-WRITING AND FINDING FELLOWSHIPS</strong></p><p>	The Program in Graduate Education is pleased to offer the first Professional Development Day (PDD) of the 2019-2020 Academic Year. This PDD will be consist of three sessions. Ideally attendees will attend and participate in the full afternoon of programming.</p><p>	<strong>1:30 pm – 3:20 pm</strong></p><ul>	<li>		Foundations of Writing: Understanding grants, fellowships, and best practices for crafting winning applications	</li></ul><p>	<em>Presenter: Lisa Goodrich, Ph.D., Professor of Neurobiology, Harvard Medical School</em></p><p>	<strong>3:30 pm – 4:20 pm</strong></p><p>	Finding Fellowships and Managing Logistics:</p><ul>	<li>		Knowing where to look for fellowships (including for international trainees)	</li>	<li>		Meet the administrators who support submissions for NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP), NIH F31 and F31D (Predoctoral Individual National Research Service Award, NRSA)	</li></ul><p>	<em>Panelists (confirmed to date):</em></p><p>	<em>Sheila Thomas, Dean for Academic Programs and Diversity, Graduate School of Arts &amp; Sciences</em></p><p>	<em>Jason Heustis, Director of Student Development and Training Evaluation, Program in Graduate Education</em></p><p>	<em>Tatevik Holmgren, Assistant Director of Academic Programs, Biological Sciences in Public Health</em></p><p>	<em>Alex Shimada-Brand, Financial Administrator, Training Grants and Fellowships, Division of Medical Sciences, Harvard Medical School</em></p><p>	<strong>4:30 pm – 6:00 pm</strong></p><p>	Learning from Successful Recipients:</p><p>	Strategies for success and Q&amp;A with Harvard graduate students</p><p>	Panelists are students – from many different Harvard programs - who were awardees of NSF GFRP, NIH NF31s and NIH F31D.</p>
