Tenure-track Faculty position @ Utah Valley University

The Department of Biology at Utah Valley University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at any rank, to begin in August 2020. We are seeking an outstanding candidate with a background in molecular biology to teach BIOL 1610 College Biology I and other courses. The successful candidate should have a strong commitment to undergraduate education and a research program amenable to undergraduate students. Candidates must have a doctorate degree, research background in molecular biology or a related discipline, and a strong commitment to effective teaching utilizing data-driven pedagogies in the classroom. Teaching responsibilities include: College Biology I (BIOL 1610), Molecular Biology (BIOL 3550), Experiments in Molecular Biology (BIOL 3555), and/or other courses within the successful candidate’s area of expertise, or as needed by the department. The successful candidate is expected to establish an active research program that includes mentoring of undergraduates and leads to peer-reviewed publications. The ability to contribute to a proposed Genomics/Bioinformatics B.S. degree program would be desirable. Additional responsibilities include working collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students to promote successful growth of the department and serving on department, college, and university committees as fitting a tenure-track position. Applicants with experience and interest in teaching hybrid and/or online instruction are especially encouraged to apply.
