Summary

The Training Associate provides logistical and program support for SfN's scientific training and neuroscience workforce development training programs, including in-person and online training events. The Associate also provides scientific and academic expertise to the Advocacy and Training team and across the organization, as well as providing the perspective of someone with the skills and training typical to the SfN membership. This is an early-career position for those with graduate biological science training (preferably in neuroscience) seeking to join the non-academic workforce.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Assists in planning and executing multiple scientific and professional development training programs at SfN's annual meetings, including, but not limited to: Short Courses, Meet the Experts sessions, Professional Development Workshops, and the Graduate School and Career Fair.
• Assists in planning and executing online, year-round scientific training programming hosted on Neuronline, including, but not limited to: digital scientific training resources, webinars, written articles, online community chats, and other events, as developed.
• Assists in development of digital learning events by providing scientific expertise and serving as a liaison to organizers and speakers within a scientific context.
• Provides year-round committee support and assists in planning and executing bi-annual meetings of the Neuroscience Training Committee and the Professional Development Committee. 
• Coordinates the interaction between SfN, the Neuroscience Training Committee, and external neuroscience department and program (Institutional Program, or IP) members to provide substantive member value and benefits. Maintains accurate membership records for IP members in SfN's membership management system. 
• Develops multiple, regular newsletters for member-audiences on subjects addressing scientific training, professional development, and funding opportunities.
• Supports the management and execution of SfN grant and awards initiatives supported by internal and external funding, including, but not limited to the Foundation of Rigorous Neuroscience Research grant and the Trainee Professional Development Awards.
• Monitors developments in and policies relating to neuroscience research and the biomedical workforce. 
• Serves as a resource for other SfN employees by providing scientific and academic expertise.
