POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Department of Physiology & Biophysics at University of California, Irvine seeks applications for a Postdoctoral Scholar position beginning on or before July 1, 2022. The candidate will participate in research projects related to novel modes of ion channel and transporter function and regulation. The position will involve studies of ion channel and transporter physiology and regulation by small molecules. Prior training and experience are required in one or more of the following areas: two-electrode voltage-clamp, patchclamp electrophysiology, brain slice electrophysiology, high-throughput drug screening and/or molecular biology with an emphasis on optimization of ion channel gene expression in heterologous systems. The position requires a Ph.D. in biological or biomedical sciences and/or M.D. from an accredited university. The
prospective postdoctoral scholars will work with Professor Geoffrey Abbott (for more information see https://www.faculty.uci.edu/profile.cfm?faculty_id=5869).
