Postdoctoral Position, Department of Biomedical Engineering @ University of Rochester

Duties and Responsibilities: We are seeking a motivated postdoctoral associate to work in the field of Hemodialysis. The overarching goal is for the candidate to develop miniaturized hemodialysis (HD) subsystems for portable or wearable hemodialysis. The position will be held in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. The main research areas will include: (1) development of a sheet-membrane based dialyzer for large-animal HD; (2) development of a membrane-based plasma generator; (3) benchtop evaluation of the two devices alone and in tandem; (4) conduct large-animal hemodialysis studies. The candidate will also have opportunities to work with researchers in the Department of Nephrology, as well as other microfluidic-related projects within the Department of Biomedical Engineering including point-of-care diagnostic devices.

Position Qualifications: The candidate should hold a doctoral degree in biomedical engineering or a related field, with experience in microfluidics, blood analysis, and hemodialysis. Candidates with strong understanding of finite element analysis especially using COMSOL Multiphysics are encouraged to apply. Salary Range: Commensurate with skills and experience

Length of Position: 2 years (the position may be extended upon initial performance).
