Postdoctoral Position, Biology Education @ University at New Hampshire

Postdoctoral Position in Biology Education at the University of New Hampshire, in association with an NSF Improving Undergraduate STEM Education (IUSE) project under mentorship of Dr. Melissa Aikens, Department of Biological Sciences. The project goals include improving scientific, mathematical, and metacognitive practices for students across gateway courses in physics, mathematics, chemistry, and biology through (1) a faculty learning community, (2) peer undergraduate coaches (both PLTL Tutors and Learning Assistants), and (3) coordinated curricular interventions. The postdoc will join a team of DBER faculty and post-docs from across these disciplines to develop, implement, and conduct research (quantitative and/or qualitative) on the above components of this project. Initial one-year appointment, with possibility of re-appointment, contingent on satisfactory performance, project scope, and availability of funds. Opportunities to teach or co-teach introductory courses may be available.

 

Requirements: Doctoral degree in disciplinary-based biology education research or in science education with a strong focus on undergraduate biology education or in a biological field with strong education research experience. Position requires being in residence. Start date is flexible but preferred before December 15, 2021.
