Part-Time Faculty Positions 2020-2021

Biology Department seeks Instructors to teach the following classes:

Plant Biology
A sophomore/junior level course covering basic cell and molecular biology of plants. Topics such as the development of transgenic plants, the GMO controversy, symbiosis with bacteria and the impact of climate change on plant ecology are all of interest to our Biology majors. (Fall or Spring semester)

Introduction to Genomics or Genetics
Sophomore level foundational course in genetics or genomics, covering general topics in gene structure, organization, expression and transmission. (Spring semester)

Biological Chemistry
A one-semester biochemistry course for junior or senior biology and biochemistry majors who have completed foundational courses in molecular and cell biology and at least one semester of organic chemistry. (Fall semester)

Part time faculty receive a competitive salary on a per course basis. In addition, part time faculty in the Biology Department have shared office space to prepare lectures and meet with students.

Responsibilities include:

  • prepare and deliver course lectures at the assigned course time
  • write and grade examinations
  • be available for 2-3 office hours per week
  • write letters of recommendation when appropriate

Qualifications: Instructors teaching lecture courses must have a PhD in an appropriate field of study. We will consider post-doctoral fellows seeking university teaching experience.
