Director, Center for Biotechnology Education / Sr. Lecturer @ Johns Hopkins University

December 7, 2020

The Advanced Academic Programs (AAP) division seeks a Faculty Center Director to teach in and provide administrative leadership to the Center for Biotechnology Education. The AAP Center for Biotechnology Education is home to eight master's degrees and three certificate programs.  Its extensive outreach activities serve as a pipeline of students, faculty, and professionals in the fields of biotechnology, bioinformatics, regulatory science, and biotechnology enterprise and entrepreneurship to its programs.

In both academic and administrative leadership roles, the Center Director oversees the curriculum, students, faculty, and staff for all of the program offerings.  There are currently 1,322 active students, one staff position, ten full-time faculty, two part-time faculty, and over 130 active adjuncts.

The Center Director is also responsible for the development and oversight of new initiatives.  Currently, the Center is working on the launch of a new degree: the MS in Regenerative and Stem Cell Technologies, a timely new offering that will attract a significant number of new enrollments.  In addition to managing a large faculty and new initiatives, the Center Director advises roughly 150 active students as they progress through their degree each term.

The Center Director role is critical to maintaining the overall high quality of the Center’s offerings, and ensuring that some of AAP’s largest programs continue to exceed enrollment goals.  Of particular interest are candidates who have experience teaching and engaging students from diverse backgrounds. The Faculty Center Director is a full-time, non-tenure-track, 12-month renewable faculty position with the academic title of Senior Lecturer.  The Center Director also serves as the Program Director for one or more programs within the Center.  The Center Director reports to the Program Chair for Biotechnology and the Associate Dean for AAP.  This position will remain open until filled.
