The Association of Public Health Laboratories’ mission lies in strengthening laboratory systems that serve the nation’s public health. APHL, in collaboration with CDC, is offering a full-time, year-long Bioinformatics fellowship to post-master’s and post-doctoral applicants (post-doctoral fellows may extend for an additional year). Applicants have the opportunity to work in state public health laboratories across the country or in a CDC laboratory, developing critical bioinformatics infrastructure for epidemiological investigations. The fellowship aims to train bioinformaticians how they can apply their skills to practical public health concerns, such as foodborne illness outbreaks. Applicants can indicate one of two Bioinformatics tracks they are interested in: Infectious Disease or Newborn Screening. Furthermore, the fellows can also indicate interest in a selection of host laboratories for the placement process.
