# Upcoming Nanocourses from the HMS Curriculum Fellows Program

May 18, 2026

Nanocourses are short, intensive courses that explore emerging topics, research techniques, and professional skills in a brief, multi-session format.

Graduate students can combine 3 Nanocourses for half-term QC course credit (2 credits).

## **Writing Research Proposals for Grants and Fellowships (Parts 1 & 2)**

This two-part Nanocourse guides students from developing strong, compelling scientific questions (Part 1) to transforming those ideas into a clear, persuasive Specific Aims page for a grant or fellowship proposal (Part 2). Through interactive discussions and peer feedback, participants build practical skills in proposal development and scientific communication. Students may register for Part 1, Part 2, or both.

**Part 1 Course dates (3 sessions):** June 1st, June 8th, June 15th

**Time:** All classes meet from 10:30AM – 12:30PM

**Location:** Countway L1-024 Classroom

**Registration deadline:** Monday, May 18

This interactive Nanocourse is designed for early-career scientists interested in developing effective mentoring skills. Through case discussions, practical tools, and facilitated activities, participants will explore strategies for building productive, culturally responsive mentor-mentee relationships, fostering trainee wellbeing and independence, and navigating mentorship challenges in research environments.

**Course date:** Friday, June 12, 2026
**Time:** 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
**Location:** TMEC Room 306

## **Computational Discovery of Cell Phenotypes and Subtypes from Single-Cell Imaging and Transcriptomic Data Nanocourse**

This Nanocourse introduces computational approaches to identify cell phenotypes from imaging data and cell subtypes from transcriptomic data. Participants will explore core methods in image analysis and machine learning, alongside key strategies for interpreting cellular heterogeneity and integrating insights across data types.

**Course dates:**

- **Session 1:** June 15, 2026
- **Session 2:** June 16, 2026
- **Session 3:** June 18, 2026
