Location:

Zoom - TBA

Landing a great scientific research post-doc is a critical step in launching a career as a research scientist – whether your career goal is to be in academia, in government, in industry or at a private research institute.  This session is designed to provide advice to trainees - from the PI perspective - on how to find scientific research post-doc positions, how to apply, and how to stand out among many applicants for positions in various environments.  Panelists will share their perspectives not only from their past experiences having landed successful post-docs (including experience with independent junior faculty positions) but also from their current roles recruiting, hiring, training and supporting post-docs.  Panelists from diverse research environments – all which employ post-docs – have been invited to speak and as such trainees will learn about post-docs in academia, industry and private research institutes.   Panelists will also share advice on relevant funding opportunities which late stage graduate students should consider pursuing in anticipation of their post-doctoral fellowships.
