Trainees and professionals in academic work environments will likely encounter a request to summarize their professional accomplishments in the form of a curriculum vitae (CV). This workshop will introduce students to best practices in developing a CV, highlighting best practices for conveying educational background, professional experience, intellectual interests, publication history and professional interests among other things. This is an interactive workshop which will take advantage of peer-review to apply the best practices introduced in this session. All attendees are asked to bring a current copy of their CV (or an existing resume).

To LinkedIn or not to LinkedIn has been a question for the scientists ever since the platform launched in early 2000s. Although, scientists may have shrugged the usefulness of LinkedIn in the past, the platform is now being used by a growing number of researchers who are realizing that LinkedIn can help them not only with finding their new career opportunity, but in number of ways that may not be immediately obvious. [3:30 pm - 4:25 pm] Looking Your Best on Paper: Making a Resume (Lauren Celano, MBA, Propel Careers)
This workshop will focus on how to highlight experiences and skills on a resume and the importance of tailoring these documents for specific roles. This seminar will provide examples of skills and experiences that should be emphasized for different types of roles including bench research roles, non-bench research roles, business development, marketing, consulting, product/project management roles, and clinical roles. Advice will be provided regarding how to build and format a resume and how to tailor resumes for different roles.
