OCS is delighted to co-host Black in Academia, in partnership with SEAS. This event is dedicated to amplifying voices of Black scholars to share their research, career story, and offer advice to students interested in pursuing opportunities in academia. In this conversation, we will also touch on what allyship within the academy looks like for our panelists, and discuss what institutions can do to create space for and best support future Black scholars.

This conversation will be moderated by our wonderful colleague, Alexis Stokes, Assistant Dean for Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging at SEAS.

Panelists include:

  • Evelyn Hammonds, Ph.D., Chair, Department of the History of Science, Barbara Gutmann Rosenkrantz Professor of the History of Science, Professor of African and African American Studies, Harvard University
  • Dave Louis, Ph.D., Associate Professor, Educational Psychology & Leadership, Texas Tech University
  • Diedra Wrighting, Ph.D., Executive Director ADVANCE Office of Faculty Development, Northeastern University

We are also delighted to share that we have partnered with the Harvard Black Graduate Student Alliance (BGSA) for this program.

We sincerely appreciate if you’re able to share this event information with your Harvard networks. The program will be open to the entire Harvard community and interested attendees may register here.
